Years As Band Director
Day of Concerts and Clinics 1973
When I was young, I had a lot of energy. I organized a "Day of Concerts & Clinics" at Montebello High School. I brought in many local jazz celebrities. Student from all of Southern California were invited. We had Clinics and Concerts all through the day. At night, we had Bill Toles' Big Band and The Esquires Jazz Ensemble play a joint concert. Featured soloist was Bud Brisbois. Below are some pictures of that event.
Jazz great, Buddy Collette gave us a woodwind clinic in the morning and was feature in a quartet for a noon concert.

Joe Pass, one of the finest, if not the best jazz guitarists in the world, was an inspiration for the guitar students. He played masterfully and imparted much knowledge to his captive audience.Click on picture.
Sinclair Lott
, first hornist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic for 30 years give a clinic for future hornists of the Philharmonic.
